Crown Antiques
Crown Antiques,
At 1018 Fifth Ave,
Near Duquesne University.
Don't procrastinate, its exterior maintains a golden splendor.
It has been locked up for an unknown length of time,
The entrance is piled with dust, boxes,
Our trash is their antiques,
It is existence
That proves the crown.
Photos. Glass.
Toys. Posters.
Mysterious history.
I peer inside
Through locks and railings.
Drawing near. Breathing ancient air.
The glass is sealed with dust,
The color of latex mattresses.
Walls tiled with
Small blue-green squares.
Glossy, the surroundings,
Of toilets and bathrooms,
Looking up to the second floor,
Are stacked records and CDs,
As if about to find a ripe name.
No eyes seen.
No scientists from novels. No vampires.
Nothing mysterious. Only history.
Hoping it carries
The crown,
continuing To shine.
Now permanently closed.
